What’s up, CWB fam?
We’ve always been about shining a light on the game of baseball across Michigan and beyond—but we’re adjusting our gears a bit to focus more intentionally on the next generation of players. That’s right: youth baseball is about to become a bigger part of what we do here at Cold Weather Bats.
Why? Because this game starts with the kids. If we want baseball to keep growing, we’ve got to find ways to keep it fun, keep it competitive, and keep them coming back year after year. That means giving more coverage, support, and love to the youth level—and we’re hyped to be jumping into this space in a big way starting this summer.
To kick it off, we’ll be at the USSSA Spring Kickoff tournament this Sunday! We’ll be there checking out the action, meeting with some of the top youth teams and players, and talking to parents and coaches who are helping shape the future of the game. If you’re out there this weekend—come say what’s up!
It means more content, more spotlights, more coverage—and more ways to make baseball fun for young players. We’re going to work closely with programs, families, and coaches to build something that fuels both the love of the game and development of talent.
And if you’re a parent, coach, or just someone who loves this game—here are a few fun ways you can help keep baseball fun (and productive) for the kids in your life:
1. Sandlot-Style Games
Pick-up games with loose rules, kids making calls, music playing—it’s baseball at its purest. Let ‘em play.
2. Mini Challenges
Throwing accuracy games, hit-the-bucket contests, fastest around-the-bases races—competition + fun = development.
3. Themed Practice Days
Wacky sock day, jersey swap day, or even a “hit like your favorite MLB player” day. Keeps things light but still locked in.
4. Parent vs. Kids Scrimmages
You want energy? Let the kids play against their parents. Instant smiles, and low-key development built in.
5. Highlight Reels & Recognition
Film a few big plays and give your players a “SportsCenter moment.” Recognition keeps confidence high and motivation up.
We’re just getting started with this youth movement—but it’s going to be a big part of what Cold Weather Bats is all about moving forward.
Catch us this Sunday at the USSSA Spring Kickoff, and keep your eyes peeled for content around the teams and players we connect with. Let’s make youth baseball as fun, competitive, and hyped as it deserves to be.
